FTPD: How to Deal with Scam Phone Calls

Scam phone calls are an ongoing issue. Scammers use a variety of methods to attempt to trick people into sending money, including impersonating police officers, claiming a member of your family has been arrested, and/or claiming a member of your family has been kidnapped. Scammers may even have someone in the background yelling to impersonate your family member.

If you believe you have received a scam phone call, please do not give out any personal information over the phone, do not send gift cards or cash in the mail, and most importantly, hang up the phone and end the call. If you need further assistance, you may call FTPD at 859.441.6562 or Campbell County Dispatch 24-hours a day at 859.292.3622. If the scam involves a family member, you could also call them directly.

Please share this information with anyone who may be a potential victim of a scam phone call.
