Key Points:
- Education – Public promotion and leadership in facilitating public awareness of tree conservation, tree protection, and tree planting issues.
- Inventory Management – designate and maintain records of “Landmark Trees” on city and private property.
- Resources – prepare submit a list of acceptable trees to plant in the public right-of-way.
- Awareness – bring trees that pose a threat to the public health, safety, and welfare of the public to the city for remedial action (pruning, removal, etc.).
- Recommendations – review and make recommendations about the removal of trees in the public right-of-way (tree removal requests) and preserving as many existing trees as practicable for new development.
Mission Statement:
The Fort Thomas Tree Commission (FTTC) is a volunteer advisory group tasked with facilitating public awareness of tree conservation and protection, assisting the city with management of the urban forest, and providing recommendations about trees that threaten the public health, safety, and welfare of Fort Thomas residents. The commission reviews and updates recommended tree species to be installed on city property.

The Fort Thomas Tree Commission will be giving away trees as par of the Fort Thomas Forest Conservancy’s Earth Day festivities on Sunday, April 21. The Commission will be handing out Button Bush, Pecan, and Swamp White Oak.
