City of Fort Thomas Announces Transition in City Attorney Role

Fort Thomas, KY — The City of Fort Thomas announces a transition in the role of City Attorney, recognizing the service of outgoing City Attorney Tim Schneider and welcoming newly appointed City Attorney Brandon Voelker.

The City alongside Mayor Ellison extends its sincere appreciation to Tim Schneider for his years of dedicated service to Fort Thomas. Schneider began his legal career as an assistant prosecutor in Clermont County, Ohio, in 1989. He later moved into private practice in Northern Kentucky in 1992, where he spent his career practicing as a criminal defense attorney. In 2020, Schneider proudly accepted the position of Fort Thomas City Attorney, calling it an honor to help guide the city he loves.

Schneider has recently accepted the opportunity to return to the Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office as Chief of Staff, a move that allows him to finish his career in public service. While excited for this new role, Schneider shared that it will make it impossible for him to devote the time necessary to continue serving the needs of Fort Thomas. He also expressed gratitude for his time working alongside City Administration and emphasized his belief that Fort Thomas “has, and will be, one of the best cities in the country.”

“On behalf of the City of Fort Thomas, I want to thank Tim Schneider for his years of service and commitment to our community,” said Mayor Andy Ellison. “Tim has been a valued advisor to the City, and we are grateful for the professionalism and dedication he brought to the role.”

The City and Mayor Ellison are also pleased to announce the appointment of Brandon Voelker as the new City Attorney for Fort Thomas. Voelker brings more than 25 years of legal experience, beginning in 1999, with a practice that includes litigation and extensive work in municipal law and local government representation. Early in his career, he served as an Assistant Kenton County Attorney working with Fiscal Court, gaining significant trial experience and a strong foundation in municipal legal matters.

In addition to his public service background, Voelker has maintained a private practice representing individuals in workers’ compensation, bankruptcy, personal injury, family law, and general litigation. Voelker has remained active in the community through service and leadership, including prior service as a church trustee and his appointment to the Kentucky Employers’ Mutual Insurance Company Board of Directors.

Mayor Ellison and the City of Fort Thomas are excited to welcome Brandon Voelker as the new City Attorney. Mayor Ellison added, “Brandon comes highly recommended and brings strong municipal law experience that will serve Fort Thomas well. We look forward to working with him as he steps into this important role.”

The City of Fort Thomas thanks Tim Schneider for his service and wishes him continued success in his new position.
