What is DEA Drug Take Back Day?

DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day reflects DEA’s commitment to Americans’ safety and health, encouraging the public to remove unneeded medications from their homes as a measure of preventing medication misuse and opioid addiction from ever starting.

Too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands. That’s dangerous and often tragic. That’s why it was great to see thousands of folks from across the country clean out their medicine cabinets and turn in – safely and anonymously – a record amount of prescription drugs.

Fun Fact: Last year the DEA collected over 335 tons of unneeded medication. That equals out to nearly 28 schools busses!

Fort Thomas Police Department will be set up in front of the City building from 10-2 on Saturday, April 26 collecting your unwanted medications. The Fort Thomas Lions club will also be collecting any old or unused prescription glasses. Help us keep glasses out of the landfalls and keep drugs out of the wrong hands!
