Let’s Talk About Our Parks, Fort Thomas

We’re incredibly proud of our beautiful parks, trails, and recreation spaces—they’re a big part of what makes Fort Thomas special. But lately, we’ve seen an upsetting rise in vandalism and disrespectful behavior in these shared spaces.

  •  Playground equipment vandalized with profanity.
  •  Trash, dog waste—and yes, even human feces—left in park areas and restrooms.
  •  Vandals caught on camera—all of them Fort Thomas residents.

Our General Services team works hard every single day to keep our parks clean, safe, and enjoyable. They should not have to spend time scrubbing off graffiti or cleaning up after destruction. These actions are taking valuable time and resources away from projects that could be beautifying and improving our city.

We intend to prosecute individuals of all ages for these acts. This behavior is not just disappointing—it’s illegal and damaging to the entire community.

We need your help:

  •  Talk to your kids, family, and friends about respecting park spaces.
  •  Always use trash cans (including for cardboard and food containers).
  •  Report suspicious behavior when you see it.

If this continues, we may be forced to consider closing restrooms, shelters, or even playgrounds. That is not the future we want for our parks.

Let’s protect what makes Fort Thomas great. Help us keep our parks clean, safe, and welcoming for all!
